Saturday Night - Dinner In

Saturday, November 12, 2022

Dinner in. Dale and I made a quiche. Quite delicious and we watched Murder, Most Foul starring Margaret Rutherford.

Cookies and milk cake from Mrs. Lund tonight. After the movie I checked the headlines to discover Catherine Cortez Masto won in Nevada. The U.S. Senate remains blue!

Quiche

Sunday, October 1, 2017

Great rainy, cool, fall evening to make a quiche.  Perfect for the first day of October. The store was out of shredded Swiss cheese so Dale bought a brick which we shredded ourselves. It was fun to do it manually however it took awhile to find the cheese grater which we just don't use much any more.

Mother's Day 2016

We had mom over for a Mother's Day brunch today. I made a quiche using our usual recipe but this time used salmon instead of tuna. The result was most awesome. While it was all cooking we had mimosas in the backyard. Dale grilled asparagus and we had strawberry short cake for dessert. When finished we watched some pretty hysterical episodes of The IT Crowd. Mom loved it.

Quiche Part 2

The quiche recipe we use is Mom's. Here it is written in her own handwriting. We've used this recipe for a quite a few years.

Quiche

Dale and I made a quiche last weekend. It didn't turn out as well as I would have liked because I forgot one important ingredient - the swiss cheese. How I forgot that I'm not quite sure as I've never forgotten it before. We bought it when we went to Kowalski's to get all the ingredients but for some reason I forgot to add it while assembling it. Anyway, it was tolerable. Dale seemed to like it a little more than I did. We had pumpkin pie from Kowalski's for dessert. We usually use whipped cream with it but this time we had vanilla ice cream which was a fabulous combo.

Quiche

On Saturday night I made a quiche for me and Dale. It was delicious. Here's the recipe we use. I got it from Mom.

Quiche

1/2 cup mayo
2 beaten eggs
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 cup milk

Mix the above ingredients together and then flake in one can of albacore tuna, 2 cups shredded swiss cheese and 1/2 cup diced green onion. Add the finished mixture to a pie crust (we use Pillsbury's refrigerated pie crust) and bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes. Test to make sure it is done - knife should come out clean from the middle.
